Virginia Peninsula Community College recently filled four key positions. Here's a look at the new members of its executive leadership and mid-level management teams:
Daniela Cigularova, vice president, Enrollment Management and Student Success: She will oversee enrollment management, records and registration, retention and student success initiatives, academic advising, student life and leadership, the testing center, Great Expectations, TRiO support services, accessibility services, and athletics.
Cigularova comes to the College from Old Dominion University, where she was in charge of academic success areas, including transfer programs, first-year student support, academic advising, high-impact learning, internships and co-operative learning, and TRiO programs. She also has experience in recruitment and enrollment planning, retention, and professional staff development and supervision.
She will start at the College on Aug. 1.
Steven Felker, vice president, Institutional Effectiveness and Transformation: He oversees Development, Human Resources, and Marketing and College Relations in addition to Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
He had been the College's director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness since July 2012. In that role, his responsibilities included strategic and operational planning, academic program and administrative/support unit assessment, accreditation and compliance efforts, pre-award and post-award grants management processes, and quantitative and qualitative research regarding the College and its students. He also provided staff supervision and support to the IRE team, led the College through all major accreditation activities and reporting requirements, and conducted cross-college coordination and leadership for the strategic and annual planning processes.
He started his new role July 3.
Eric Pesola, director of Marketing and College Relations: He will lead the efforts in marketing, promoting, and communicating the College’s brand to the public and in executing the marketing goals of VPCC’s Thrive 2027 strategic plan.
It is his second stint at the College, where he was a graphic designer more than 20 years ago. Since that time, he has served media agencies, including WAVY-10 and the Virginian Pilot, and in marketing roles at the College of William and Mary, and Rappahannock Community College. He comes to VPCC from Chesapeake Bank.
He will start his new role July 25.
Scott Stauble, dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math division: Stauble joined VPCC in early July after two years as an anatomy and physiology professor at Fredericksburg's Germanna Community College. His background also includes service as the department head for Life Sciences at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, N.C., where he supervised more than 30 full-time faculty and staff. He also has worked at Durham Technical Community College, and Maysville (Ky.) Community Technical College.
He earned his undergraduate degree (science and biology) from Morehead State University, a master’s degree in teaching from Bellarmine University, and a doctorate of education from Wingate University.
